Applicants must meet both California State University, Fullerton and the Department of Nursing requirements for admission to the Nursing Baccalaureate Program.
Requirements for Admission to the University include:
  • California residents must meet the following requirements to qualify as an upper-division transfer student: Completion of at least 60 transferable semester units with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.0

  • Non-California residents must have a GPA of 2.4 or higher. Students are urged to apply for certification of their general education units before transferring*

  • “Basic Four” requirements: Speech, English Composition, College Level Math, and Critical Thinking
All undergraduate applicants, regardless of citizenship, who have not attended schools at the secondary level or above for at least three years full-time where English is the principal language of instruction, must demonstrate competence in English by taking the TOFEL test. A minimum score of 500 (paper) or 173 (computer) on the TOEFL Test is required.

Requirements for Admission to the Bachelor Program in the Department of Nursing include:

  • An Associate Degree in nursing or its equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Completion of college level courses in the following areas with a grade of C or better: Anatomy and Physiology with lab; General Chemistry with lab; Microbiology with lab; Psychology; and Sociology or Anthropology
  • Current California RN license or be eligible
  • Professional liabilty insurance (for lab/clinical courses)
  • Current CPR card
  • Current medical clearance (PPD or chest x-ray; MMR titer; Hepatitis B titer; Varicella titer)
  • Current California driver license
  • Current automobile insurance
** Completion of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is recommended. A current, active, unencumbered RN license, with professional liability coverage, is required for admission to the program.
