EL-BSN

This EL-BSN degree is designed for students desiring to enter the field of nursing. This EL-BSN degree study plan provides the coursework and clinical experiences needed to qualify students for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and also awards a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Nursing. Students will gain the knowledge base and skill set grounded in a scientific discipline and the art of professional nursing to assure quality nursing care for patients as baccalaureate prepared RN.

Student applicants will be ranked from highest to lowest scores and the top ranking students will be selected for admission according to the following point structure. Up to 70 possible supplemental criteria points can be earned. Students must still meet the minimum prerequisite course requirement for admission to be eligible for admission to the Generic/EL-BSN Program.

Points will be awarded based on criteria being completed by the end of the fall semester.

Due to budget cuts, upper division transfers are no longer being considered for 2010 - 2011 university admission as pre-nursing majors.

AB 540 Students

Our Consortium of Clinical Sites require that all Nursing Program students obtain a 'negative' result on the required Criminal Background Check. For the Criminal Background Check to be completed, students need a valid Social Security Number or a valid F-1 Visa.  Until there is some form of Immigration reform to grant citizenship to AB 540 students, such students cannot currently be admitted to any of our Nursing Programs.  AB 540 students may want to pursue a degree here at the University in another discipline, while also meeting the specific course requirements for the Nursing major, so as to be prepared for entry in the future to the EL-MSN program, once the law changes. We encourage such students to meet with a Nursing Advisor to plan out their coursework carefully.
