This section of the website is for enrolled students or potential enrollees. It
is also for preceptors, including nurses, teachers, physicians, or nurse practitioners.
This part of the web site has descriptions of what school nursing is and how a new
school nurse can be helped in the early days of employment with
Orientation to School Nursing. A nurse interested in learning about CSU
Fullerton’s school nurse program can learn more and even apply on-line through School Nursing Academic Programs! Nurses in the
community who are already fully-credentialed and who are interested in broadening
their teaching skills may learn more about the Special
Teaching Authorization in Health for nurses, called the STAH.
If you are a preceptor or are considering becoming one, information about precepting
a school nursing student in a nursing practicum within a school district, in a health
care delivery environment, or in a health education practicum located within a school
district is available on our Preceptors page for you
to read, consider, and download relevant materials.
Both students and preceptors may be interested in information about the agencies
– school districts or health care delivery settings where school nurses will receive
clinical or fieldwork practice and experience – visit
Clinical Agencies for Student Learning for more information.
Finally, nurses enrolled in CSU, Fullerton’s School Nursing Program may showcase
and share their scholarly or clinical practice work for other students and preceptors
to see and utilize. Remember, the purpose of returning to school is not only to
prepare yourself for a new, advanced role, but it is also to expand the knowledge
of the specialty of school nursing by sharing your insights with others. More information
on best practices in school nursing is available at School Nursing
Student Showcase.
