PLEASE NOTE: As of January 31, 2018, some of the admission requirements have changed. These changes apply to the Fall 2019 admission cycle. Please thoroughly review the updated website.
Non-Resident Applicants: Our program is under impaction, therefore, we may only consider California residents for admission.
Thoroughly read through the website so that you fully understand all the requirements.
Complete the CSUF university application between October 1 - November 30
Go to Cal State Apply to complete the application
Complete the undergraduate application
If you have questions about the University application, please contact Admissions and Records directly at (657) 278-2300. Please note that you may track your application status through Cal State Apply online.
The School of Nursing online application will be available: October 1 - January 15. Complete the School of Nursing online application, including uploading all documents:
- Unofficial transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
- It is expected that an applicant's final Fall grades (during the application period) will be uploaded before the 1/15 deadline.
- If an applicant will be in-progress with any required prerequisite courses during the Spring semester of the application period, the applicant must upload proof of enrollment before the 1/15 deadline
- Copy of CNA license (if applicable)
Verification of Volunteer Hours Letter
- Verification of Employment Hours Letter (if applicable)
Have one set of official transcripts from every college-level institution you have attended sent to the address below. The deadline is February 15.

*If you send your transcripts to the School of Nursing, an advisor will submit it to Admissions and Records on your behalf.
All applicants will be reviewed for admission. Those who meet the minimum admission requirements will be required to complete a Statement of Purpose. Once the application closes, qualified applicants will be notified via email with instructions on the Statement of Purpose, how to submit, and the deadline.

Participate in an on campus interview and group activity upon request. You will be notified by email if you are invited to interview.
PLEASE NOTE: Once admitted into the program, you are required to have current health insurance, current CA driver's license, auto insurance, CPR certification, and must also meet the health requirements of the university and assigned clinical agencies. Health clearance requirements include the following: physical exam, two (2) step Tuberculosis screening, and positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis-B, and flu vaccine. The majority of healthcare agencies require that nursing students have a clear criminal background check in order to participate in clinical placement(s) at their respective facilities; background checks will be required of all students. Please be aware that a social security number is required for background checks upon admission to the program and for applying for license as a Registered Nurse.
