Generic BSN Admissions Requirements
Currently enrolled as a CSUF undergraduate student.
All applicants to the School of Nursing's Generic BSN program, must be a CSUF student at the time of application to the School of Nursing. This means that you must complete a CSUMentor application and be enrolled at CSUF the spring semester in which you apply to the School of Nursing's Generic BSN program. Any major is allowed to apply. Transfer students must follow the process for transferring to CSUF and must also select a non-nursing major to transfer into.
Minimum GPA of 3.25 in college-level coursework.
All pre-requisite courses completed with a minimum overall GPA of 3.25
You must earn a “B-” or better in each science prerequisite course to be admitted. You must earn a "C" or better in all non-science prerequisite courses. (A “C-” is not acceptable in any separate course). There is no recency on courses. The first course you have taken that fulfills a prerequisite course will be used for eligibility & GPA purposes. No repeats are allowed.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic certificate OR completed internship in a Clinical Care Extender program.
A CNA certificate is the preferred option and must be completed by the start of the Generic BSN program Fall 2014. If the applicant chooses to use the EMT or CCE option, it must be completed and a copy of a certificate of completion must be included in the application packet submitted during the Jan 15-Feb 14 at 5pm application cycle.
The Fall 2015 application cycle and beyond will require a CNA.
