Renteria_LuisLuis Renteria is a very active community member. Luis has volunteered at St. Mary’s Medical Center as a clinical care extender, actively engaging with patients to ensure they receive the best possible care. Luis has also participated in administering flu and pneumococcal vaccines to low-income families. In his free time, when Luis is not working or studying, he likes to spend his time with his family and volunteering at his children’s elementary school.

Luis was the 2013-2014 AY recipient of the Stephanie Hernandez Memorial Scholarship.

Sanchez_IlianaIliana Sanchez is a first generation college student and cites getting into nursing school as her greatest accomplishment. At the age of 14 Iliana decided to become a nurse after witnessing her cousin lose her battle to cancer. Iliana currently sits on the board of NSA and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She has received a certificate of appreciation for the commitment and support to the Kansai University of Health Sciences Nursing Program and has recently become ACLS certified. Iliana’s future plans include becoming a Neuro ICU nurse, and pursuing her Master’s and Doctorate degrees.

Iliana is honored to be the recipient of the 2012-2013 AY Stephanie Hernandez Memorial Scholarship.

Rodriguez_DenisseDenisse Rodriguez is a Titan through and through. An active member of the Titan community, Denisse worked as an Orientation Leader, Campus Tour Guide, Information Specialist, and Student Coordinator for the New Student Orientation and Campus Tours Office. She also served as the Vice President of Finance for the College of Health and Human Development, as well as serving as the Secretary for the Nursing Student Association (NSA) for three semesters and assisting in the development of the Mentor and Mentee Program.

Denisse currently works at Long Beach Memorial in Labor & Delivery and would like to continue her education with a Master’s degree in Nursing in Midwifery or as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Denisse was the 2011-2012 AY recipient of the Stephanie Hernandez Memorial Scholarship.
