Traditional BSN Admission Requirements

Applicants to this pathway will only be considered if they have met all of the below requirements. Due to impaction, the Traditional BSN pathway will only accept California Residents for admission. Please note that this pathway is approved by the CSU Chancellor's office to use an approved holistic admission process.

SAT / ACT Exams

For Fall 2023 admission, CSUF will temporarily suspend the use of ACT/SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for the 2023-2024 academic year.

To determine first-year admission, CSUF will rank order applicants by multiple factors. To learn more, visit the CSUF Admissions website.

Complete Cal State Apply Application

The application for the Traditional BSN pathway at CSUF is run through Cal State Apply and is open every year between October 1 - November 30.

IMPACTION NOTICE: The Traditional BSN Pathway has “impacted” status by the CSU Chancellor’s Office. This means that we receive more applications than spaces available and therefore, admission to this pathway is highly competitive.

CA LICENSURE: A Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is required for background checks during the Nursing major and for applying for license as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.

PLEASE NOTE: Admission into programs leading to licensure and credentialing does not guarantee that students will obtain a license or credential. Licensure and credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, licensure or credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., social security number or tax payer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check. Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet licensure or credentialing requirements. The CSU will not refund tuition, fees, or any associated costs, to students who determine subsequent to admission that they cannot meet licensure or credentialing requirements.
