Jump Start Option Overview

Cal State Fullerton

The Jump Start Option provides students with an opportunity to enroll in BSN courses from our RN-BSN curriculum while also being enrolled in a California Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. The Jump Start Option only operates in the 10-week summer session through Extended and International Programs (EIP)’s Open University.

Participating in Jump Start does not make you an enrolled, current student at California State University, Fullerton. This will happen when you are ready to apply for the RN-BSN pathway.

Each summer session, the School of Nursing will offer:

  • NURS 305: Professional Nursing (3 units)
  • NURS 310: Nursing Research/Evidence Based Practice (3 units)

First-time Jump Start students can select to take NURS 310 or NURS 305. There is a maximum of one course per summer session. If space permits, both classes may be completed in the same summer session, where priority will be given to third and fourth semester ADN students.

Applicants can decide to take a course either face-to-face or online.

Students who complete at least one course through Jump Start with a “C” or higher will receive priority admission to the RN-BSN pathway. As a reminder, you are still required to apply during the application period and meet the admission requirements. If you do not meet the requirements when applying, you will not be admitted into the RN-BSN pathway even if you have participated in our Jump Start Option.
